Natural Heritage Trust

Building capacity for Aboriginal involvement in natural resource management (NRM) in Central Queensland.
Participation in develpment of regional plan

Regional agreement with State government

Working in collaboration with Fitzroy Basin Association (FBA) who are the Community Regional planning body for sustainable developement of natural resources.

Co-management of protected areas - Some Native title claimants groups in the Fitzroy Basin region have formed a management committee, to be actively involved in the co-management of particular National Parks like Carnarvon and Mt Moffat

Reconnect

The elders have a strong interest in youth affairs and run a project called Reconnect which aims to strengthen family relationships.
Core service is trying prevent child homelessness through preventative measures such as counselling the particular people involved. Other activities include dances and sporting activites.

Reconnect is a federally funded project auspiced by the elders helping with young people at risk. It keeps young people connected with schools and family for more positive outcomes.

There are over 100 offices nationwide, with local ones in Rockhampton, Yeppoon, and Mt Morgan.
