Gummoo Bullaroo - where waters meet

Who we are

Fitzroy Basin Elders are senior members from Aboriginal groups in the catchment area of the Fitzroy River in central Queensland. We are working to restore the health of our waterways, and restore the traditional knowledge of our people.

We are a voluntary community group with members from many tribes in the Basin. Click here for contact details of Traditional Owner Groups (TOGs) in the region.

We know that the long term future of the pastoral, cropping, fishing, tourism and mining industries in the Basin also relies on the river staying healthy. If our waters are healthy, our people are healthy. If our waters are spoiled, our communities are affected, our cultural heritage is endangered.

The Fitzroy Basin Elders Committee is looking to work with other groups to have a say in land and water management.
